Fantomex, designated Weapon XIII, is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. Created by Grant Morrison and Igor Kordey, he first appeared in New X-Men #128 (2002).

Born in The World, a man-made environment designed to create living weapons, Fantomex is a mutant with a triple brain and an external nervous system, known as E.V.A. This symbiotic relationship allows them to operate independently, with E.V.A. taking a humanoid, robotic form.

Fantomex's origins are steeped in deception; he was programmed with false memories, including a romanticized backstory as a French thief and mutant. In reality, he was created to be a super-sentinel, designed to defend The World.

Despite his fabricated past, Fantomex often operates as a hero, aligning himself with the X-Men and other heroic factions. He is a master thief, marksman, and manipulator, whose powers include misdirection and heightened senses. His moral compass often wavers, reflecting the artificial nature of his upbringing and the conflict between his programming and his choices.
